Williams Drive Georgetown Project

Georgetown, Texas

The city of Georgetown plans to make significant updates to Williams Drive between Austin Avenue and Jim Hogg Road. It comes after a survey revealed that residents were concerned about safety and the efficient flow of traffic.

Every day, more than 36,000 vehicles travel on Williams Drive, which makes the street a major transportation corridor. Scheduled improvements include raised medians; enhancements to bicyclist and pedestrian safety; better timing of traffic signals; improvements to intersections and business driveway access; added safety lighting and turning lanes.

Government authorities are hosting public meetings with a goal to start construction in the fall of 2026.

As a landowner, the proposed changes to Williams Drive can impact your property. The loss of a driveway resulting in inadequate access to your land can negatively affect your property value and cost you a significant amount of money to cure access issues, depending on what its current use may be. Often the city will inform you of their plan without giving you any real opportunity to negotiate a change to the plan.

Opposition to the project because of how it directly impacts your property means you must be prepared to fight for your land rights and have expansive support. If you are interested in learning more, the Gattis Law Firm can help you evaluate your situation and protect your rights.
