Blanco Loop

Blanco County

Two road projects are underway in Blanco County, each designed to help improve mobility of vehicular traffic and traffic safety along US 281. The Blanco Relief Route held public stakeholder meetings and workshops in the summer and fall of 2023, and the US 281 Blanco County Project’s environmental and engineering studies are expected to be completed in early 2024.

The Relief Route examines ways to improve traffic flow on US 281 in the city of Blanco. The County Project, by contrast, will improve about 19 miles of US 281 in Blanco County. The latter project will start at the US 281/US 290 interchange and end at FM 306 (Comal County line).

Part of the Blanco County Project involves expanding US 281 to four lanes. As a result, landowners with property along the highway can expect government attempts to acquire their land through purchases or eminent domain. As a property owner and attorney, Dan Gattis can provide the expertise to prepare you for changes to your land. He can help you know your rights.
